St. Louis: 250 Years, 250+ Cakes. Here we go....

In celebration of the city of St. Louis's 250th birthday this year (2014), there was a special cake. Times that by 250, that is! Called 'Cakeway to the West', 250+ cakes have been placed all over the St. Louis area, including the Metro East. Places that have cakes include historical landmarks, parks, museums, popular restaurants, as well as government places. These are just a few examples as the places represented St. Louis in a memorable way.

#123: Brightside St. Louis

Founded in 1982 as one of the first environmentally-friendly not-for-profit groups/organizations to 'clean up' St. Louis.
Originally known as Operation Brightside
They have cleaned up numerous neighborhoods and homes, by picking up trash and washing away graffiti.
One of their annual events is Project Blitz, in which volunteers get together and host a 'clean-up' in their city and/or neighborhood
A gas station once sat where the Brightside's Demonstration Garden is now. It is a free garden that is used to promote plants and trees in the city, as well as for educational purposes.
