#173: Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis (New Cathedral)

  • Also known as the St. Louis Cathedral.
  • It was built as a replacement for the Cathedral of St. Louis.
  • Completed in 1914, it was designated as a basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1997.
  • The church holds one of the largest mosaic installations in the Western Hemisphere.
  • Contains burial crypts

UPDATE (8/24/2016): The cake has been removed from outside; it is said that it was moved indoors and will be permanently placed inside their Mosaic museum.
