- St. Louis' third largest city park (after Forest and Fairground)
- Wikipedia says it was established in 1875, while the STL250 website says it was dedicated on July 4, 1876. This was to coincide with America's centennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
- Park consists of two lakes (Horseshoe and Boathouse), a gazebo (where Steve Davis, local Elvis Presley impersonator, performs) and a walking trail.
- A YMCA is also located there.
- Park is nearly 180 acres
